May 10th, 2013 Casting announced for RICHARD III
We are extemely excited to begin announcing the cast for RICHARD III...in addition to Philip Emeott directing and starring as Richard, our cast will include Boomerang veterans Sharina Martin, Linda S. Nelson, Ralph Petrarca, Ron Sanborn and James Ware.
They'll be joined by new members of the Boomerang family Ken Cavett, Susan Kirby, Matt Mezzacappa, David O'Hara, Michael Russnick and Thia Stephans.
RICHARD III open June 22nd in Central Park!
May 3rd, 2013 Richard III is coming!
The first production of our 15th Anniversary Season is RICHARD III directed by and starring Philip Emeott. Auditions are underway, and we are proud to announce our performance dates. RICHARD will open June 22nd in Central Park, running Saturday and Sunday afternoons thru July 14th.

R-n-R will feature actors Susan Atwood, Dana Benningfield, Amanda Berry, Synge Maher, Sevrin Anne Mason, Cortnie Loren Miller, Sarah Norris, Vinnie Penna, Heather Lee Rogers, David Sedgwick, Gabby Sherba, Joe Whelski and Aaron Michael Zook.
Plus, we'll have the indie rock band THE MORROW as our special guests.

February 21, 2013 Rock N' Roles!
Are you ready to rock? It is time for the 4th installment of Boomerang Theatre's Rock N' Roles 24 hour play festival!
7 plays, all based on classic rock songs, brought to life in just 24 hours. Check it out as playwrights, directors and actors come together over the course of one day to turn classic tunes like "Born to Run" and "Highway to Hell" into one act plays. Come out on Saturday, March 16 for all the fun!

Thank you to everyone who attended readings this past week during our FIRST FLIGHT New Play Festival. The festival was a tremendous success, allowing for development of 6 terrific new works and giving birth to new collaborations. Your support makes this possible.
Your support was especially tangible during the Flights of Fancy benefit celebration on Saturday night. We had a huge crowd come out to celebrate our playwrights, and we went thru a record number of bottles of wine. Thank you for all the ways you support us, both financial and by your physical attendance at the events that mean so much to our company. Have a great Thanksgiving.

7/24/2012 Boomerang receives two New York Innovative Theatre award nominations!
Congratulations to the cast and crew of THE REAL THING by Tom Stoppard, who last night received two award nominations from The New York Innovative Theatre Awards.
The nominations were Outstanding Production of a Remounted Play, and Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role for Aidan Redmond.
The Awards ceremony will be Monday September 24th. Congrats to all!

5/16/2012 Austin Ku and Carsey Walker Jr. round out the cast of HAMLET
We're happy to officially announce that casting for HAMLET is complete. Austin Ku and Carsey Walker, Jr. have joined the cast as Horatio and Guildenstern, respectively. We couldn't be more excited about this talented group moving into rehearsals. First read is Monday 21st...first performance June 23rd.
5/10/12 Additional casting announced for HAMLET
Boomerang has announced additional casting for its' upcoming production of Shakespeare's HAMLET.
Joining the previously announced Zack Calhoon (Hamlet) and Mark Souza (Laertes) will be Annalisa Loeffler (Gertrude), John Greenleaf (Claudius), Ralph Petrarca (Ghost and Gravedigger), Uriel Menson (Polonius), Kayla Wickes (Ophelia), Ashley Bloom (Rosencrantz), Steph Van Vlack (Player Queen), David Carlyon (Player King and Gravedigger), JP Villa (ensemble) and Cristina Pitter (ensemble). Additional casting still to come.

4/18/2012 Zack Calhoon and Mark Souza join the cast of HAMLET
Two Boomerang alums are the first to join the cast of HAMLET. Zack Calhoon (seen in our productions of KING LEAR, GIANT-N-VARIATION and THE REAL THING) will play Prince Hamlet, and Mark Souza (who previously appeared in our MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING) will star as Laertes. Additional casting to be announced.
4/13/2012 Hamlet announces 2012 performance dates!
Boomerang's next production will be Shakespeare's HAMLET outside in Central Park. We're proud to announce that HAMLET will open on Saturday June 23rd at 2pm, running weekends until July 15th.
Lots of interesting details with this production, including a new location for the show! More info to follow on that.
We're also entertaining the idea of twilight performances on Friday evenings beginning at 7pm. Especially for this play, with its ghosts and murder and revenge, we think it might be really fun.
And then there is the play itself, which is being radically reimagined for a 21st century audience. This will definitely be HAMLET unlike any you have ever seen.
3/9/2012 Update! Spring Tides Schedule Change!
Due to the ill health of one of the actors, the performances for SPRING TIDES on Friday March 9th and Saturday March 10th have been cancelled. SPRING TIDES first performance will be Sunday March 11th at 7pm. We'll keep you updated thoughtout the weekend. We really cannot wait to share this wonderful play with you. Thanks!
3/1/2012 Much Ado about Something Special
Tonight is opening night for a very special and unique production of Much Ado About Nothing. We have produced this show twice before--2000 as only our 2nd ever park production, and then in Summer 2011 in our permanent home in Central Park.
Unlike those two, this new production of Much Ado will be indoors, and allows for a different kind of magic than our other Shakespeares. We've got the usually costume excellence from Carolyn Pallister collaborating with Kia Rogers' lights, Nikki Black's sets, Jay Spriggs' sound, and props by the dream team of Sara Slagle and Evan Hill.

Hi folks...Rehearsals are off to a great start! The Much Adoers are running over proverbial hill and dale, rediscovering the magic of the summertime while adding in new faces and new elements. Meanwhile, daytime finds the Real Thingers working with dialect coach Andrea Caban and exploring Stoppard's wit and wordplay. And the Spring Tiders are wrapping up the first week of rehearsal, spending time with playwright Melissa Gawlowski on table work and talking thru each scene before they get on their feet. Feb 8, 2012 The 2012 Rep Season is Here!
It seems like the year just started and here we are about to kickoff the next Boomerang rep season. We are currently in rehearsal for The Real Thing by Tom Stoppard, Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare, and Spring Tides by Melissa Gawlowski.
As you probably know, Boomerang has joined forces with the tremendously talented people at Gideon Productions and Flux Theatre Ensemble to form the BFG Collective. BFG has rented out The Secret Theatre in Long Island City for the next 6 months, and will produce 7 mainstage shows during that time. We're all really excited about this.

10/27/2011 FIRST FLIGHT and "Flights of Fancy"
So much going on at Boomerang HQ!
The FIRST FLIGHT New Play Festival runs from Nov 16th-20th at ART/NY, where readings of 7 exciting new plays in development will be presented to audiences for the first time. Come check out the first glimpse of what (and who!) you'll be seeing onstage for years to come!
The highlight of this festival is the "Flights of Fancy" Benefit party on Saturday November 19th. Music, food, celebs, performances, and plenty of cocktails come together to celebrate FIRST FLIGHT and this year's participants. Tickets are $40 in advance, and $50 at the door.
